Both new parents and expecting parents know how expensive babies can be. The costs of baby essentials pile up fast. There are diapers, formula, wipes, clothing, pacifiers, and so much more. Thankfully, plenty of stores offer baby freebies for parents. You just need to know where to look!

If you have a newborn baby or one on the way, you probably don't have time to hunt down free baby samples and gift boxes. For your convenience, we've curated a list of stores that offer freebies for parents, including a few community and government resources that are worth looking into. Our long list of stores and resources can be broken down into these categories:

  • Baby Gift Registries
  • Gift Boxes and Samples
  • Rewards Programs
  • Community and Government Support

Baby Gift Registries

1. Walmart

Walmart offers a free box to any mother that registers on their website! All you have to do to qualify is have a Walmart Registry URL. The boxes include a variety of baby essentials, including bottles, diapers, wipes, and more.

2. buybuy BABY

You can instantly get 20% off and an in-store goodie bag by creating a registry on buybuy BABY. The goodie bag is usually filled with coupons, gifts, and product samples, such as a pacifier or a cute window sign. If you've never created a registry before, and actually intend to use one, consider consulting with their helpful in-store registry consultants.

3. Babylist

Babylist also sends out gift boxes to customers that sign up for a registry on their site. You'll have to spend at least $10 from their store and pay for shipping on orders under $45, but the baby box is filled with lots of great stuff. If there are baby essentials you need to pick up anyway, you should definitely shop at Babylist and take advantage of their free gift box.

4. Amazon

If you have Amazon Prime and sign up for a baby registry on their website, you'll receive a welcome box for free that's shipped right to your door. It's a surprise box, so you won't know what's in it until it arrives.

People have gotten wipes, books, multivitamins, lotion, and much more — with the monetary value averaging out to about $35. You'll also gain access to a bunch of deals and free samples, plus a 10% completion discount for any items remaining on your registry.

5. Target

Target is yet another store that rewards you for creating a baby registry with them. Once you've created your registry, you can visit Guest Services and receive a free welcome kit. This kit typically includes over $100 in coupons and samples of products like bottles, diapers, pacifiers, and more from quality brands. You'll also get a discount on items left on your registry two months before your baby's due date.
